Wenger confirms Perez and Mustafi signings

Arsene Wenger has come under criticism for his inability to sign players, even when the funds are available to him.

The ESPN FC crew discuss the rumours that Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo's Lucas Perez are set to sign for Arsenal.

With Granit Xhaka the only major signing of the summer transfer window to date, Arsenal fans have been vocal in their cricitism of Wenger and his refusal to match the spending of the club's Premier League rivals.

Mustafi, who was part of the youth set-up at Everton earlier in his career without ever breaking into the first team, could command a fee in excess of £30million.

The German worldwide, who impressed at Euro 2016, is said to be costing the club about £10m more than Evans would have done.

Wenger has confirmed that both Mustafi and Perez have now joined Arsenal after successfully completing their medical tests and the boss also appeared to suggest they will be our last two signings of the summer.

English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal now sit in pole position, ahead of Everton to sign Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez Martinez before the summer transfer window deadline on August 31, 2016. "I am 99 per cent confident", Wenger said, as quoted by Arsenal's official website. I expected it to be easier than ever.

"It looks like when you meet other clubs and you have (a player with) an English passport, you hit these prices which are very hard to understand compared to the quality of the players". I hope we will have done all our business before the last days of the window. We have a good little break now and we can help them to join the squad. But you will see how many transfers will happen in the next three or four days.

They have already signed Swiss global Granit Xhaka from Borussia Moenchengladbach and young pair Rob Holding and Takuma Asano.

'We are working on the deals,' Wenger said.

On whether Joel Campbell still has a future at Arsenal, Wenger said: "I believe that he has been a victim of the size of the squad".
