Surgery over, rehab begins for Vikings RB Peterson

Peterson, 31, told ESPN on Wednesday he suffered a "bucket handle tear", which is more severe than a typical meniscus tear.
The 31-year-old Peterson opted for a full fix of his meniscus, rather than a trim that could have had him back in several weeks, after consulting with family and advisers. "It could be season ending". It could be three or four weeks. Also, suspended receiver Josh Gordon had an arrest warrant issued against him in a paternity case. The Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office in OH has confirmed that Gordon has not address several subpoenas and that a judge issued the warrant last month. "With Adrian being banged up right now, it's a loss, but with those two guys, I think they still have an opportunity to be unsafe in the run game". He can return to the field for the Browns game on October 9 game against New England.
The Browns say they are "aware of the situation".
"It's a blow to this team", said tackle Andre Smith. "He finished the last eight games previous year and was very impressive".
For now, McKinnon, a third-year man, will take over for the Vikings. The Denver Broncos have laid out the blue print to largely neutralize Newton, and the Vikings defense is well equipped to employ that blueprint-keep him bottled up in the pocket, force him to become a passer, and don't let him get away and make plays with his legs.
Defenses presses witnesses in Bridge-Gate trial
The George Washington Bridge lanes were allegedly closed to punish Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, who refused to endorse Christie. He pleaded guilty a year ago to orchestrating traffic jams in 2013 to punish a Democratic mayor who didn't endorse Christie.
Doug Martin has established himself as one of the best running backs in all of football, but the Tampa Bay Buc will now be out for a few weeks.
"I think you've seen he's more than capable", coach Jim Caldwell said.
Players received a memo from the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association on Wednesday, one that announced that the league and the union, "working together, have begun developing substantive ways for us to come together and take meaningful action".
CHIEFS: Coach Andy Reid called the prognosis of Jamaal Charles "all positive", increasing the likelihood that the injured running back will get on the field this weekend. It came off a huge high just three days earlier, defeating arch-rival Green Bay on Sunday night, 17-14, behind newly acquired QB Sam Bradford - only to hear this latest double-whammy. Zimmer said Clemmings will start Sunday's game at Carolina.
Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West have been filling in for him. "They're both different types of runners, but I think the combination of the two can help us". I think that's the biggest thing, he's going out each week, he's done what we've asked him to do from a job and from a preparation stand point. "It's going to be a insane game for me, back in Charlotte where I stay, and playing against my former teammates and my former coach". New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall missed Wednesday's practice with foot and knee problems. The Colts quickly signed WR Devin Street off New England's practice squad, to replace Moncrief.
