Tannishtha slams racist attack on Colors' show, channel apologises

After she stormed out of a taping of Comedy Nights Bachao Tazaa when the show's cast let loose a barrage of distasteful jokes about her skin tone on Tuesday afternoon, actress Tannishtha Chatterjee, in an interview (Mirror, September 28) lashed out at the "white hangover" she was subjected to.
The channel also posted the message on its official Twitter account, apologising to the actress.
Krushna was not present on the sets of the show when Tannishtha was "roasted" on the comedy show.
Incidentally, "Parched" directed by Leena Yadav, portrays the various societal biases still prevalent including that of skin colour.
Tannishtha saw no point in sitting through the nightmare and told her publicist that she wanted to leave. Though I was feeling suffocated, I chose to give it another chance, and sat through another equally offensive segment. Why I am saying "I made" is because all of us who are a part of this film feel that this was not just a film for us. But we never got offended when she said that she doesn't know anything about our show. The show's host didn't understand why she was upset and instead of offering an apology, said they'll "edit out" portions that she didn't like. "Once I was asked that since my surname is Chatterjee, I must be a Brahmin, so why wasn't I faircomplexioned", she fumes, pointing out that while Indians rave about how "exotic" foreigners find them, they themselves look down on a dark complexion. And she hadn't seen that either. I told her that since it's a roast, there will be some leg pulling, but we don't insult. She was expecting caesar salad or a burger.an American comedy show but we served her the desi vada pav, full of masala.
The comedian had said that new show Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza will be much toned down and will not have the roast format as the show was losing its popularity owing to some popular celebrities refusing to appear on it.
Aguero impresses for City
Plenty of praise being heaped on the shoulders of Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola this morning. In the Premier League, everyone comes here but in the Champions League they don't.
The actor, in a lengthy Facebook post, wrote about her frustration with the way her dark skin tone was made fun of. To my utmost horror, I soon realised that the only quality they found worth roasting about in me was my skin tone. In her post, she wrote that the roast began with, "Aap ko jamun bahut pasand hoga zaroor. kitna jamun khaya aapne bachpan se?".
Krushna Abhishek's Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza is a revamped version of Comedy Nights Bachao.
And then this show began. "So maybe she didn't like the format", said the nephew of comedy star Govinda. "That is not the spirit of Parched or the face of a woman who believes dark is handsome".
I was actually looking forward to be roasted.
Colors channel apologised to Tannishtha Chatterjee for what happened with her on Comedy Nights Bachao.
