Publishing Hacked Private Emails Can Be a Slippery Slope
Oct 16 2016 by Joanne Wise
Hacked emails released in daily dispatches this past week by the WikiLeaks group exposed the inner workings of Hillary Clinton's campaign leading up to her 2015 announcement that she would seek the presidency, and through this year's primary.
Throughout the campaign, Hillary Clinton has been castigated by Republicans and even some Democrats for paid speeches she and her husband have delivered to Wall Street firms.
"We're not going to let it throw us off", Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told reporters on a conference call.

The emails were among thousands published this week by WikiLeaks, which has been releasing a series of emails hacked from the accounts of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. As far back as March, aides were keenly aware that she was resistant to the media, perhaps out of touch with regular Americans and unable to convey a clear message to voters.
"Off-record: If pressed on whether we are essentially admitting the possibility that she deleted some emails: Look, we do not know what these materials are, or where they came from".
The Clinton campaign has declined to verify the authenticity of the emails.

During her time as USA secretary of state, Clinton took responsibility for a number of security breaches stemming from her use of a personal email account for classified communications during the hearing set up to investigate the 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
The email was sent on March 4, 2015, the day The Associated Press first reported that Clinton had been running a private server inside her home in NY.
Trump has declined to condemn Russian Federation for the hack of Podesta's emails and the earlier attacks, saying it is unclear who to blame.
Podesta has said that the hacking of his Gmail account is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which suspects it was done by groups with Russian ties. Clinton, who will return to Las Vegas for the final presidential debate on October 19, continues to campaign against her Republican opponent Donald Trump with less than one month to go before Election Day.
They also offer an insight into the campaign's methods and how Clinton's administration may be managed if she wins next month's presidential election. She said repeatedly that she would wait to announce her position until after the State Department had repeated its review of the project, in deference to her former boss.
"I see no downside in her actually just saying, 'Look, I'm sorry.' I think it will take so much air out of this", Tanden wrote.
