Evacuations Continue as Hurricane Matthew Heads for US

A weakened Hurricane Matthew struck land in SC on Saturday as its driving rains, winds and flooding justified why the University of Georgia, University of SC and the Southeastern Conference worked together to move the schools' football game in Columbia to this afternoon at 2:30 - 19 hours after it was originally scheduled.

On the heels of last October's LSU-South Carolina game being moved from Columbia to Baton Rouge due to flooding in the Palmetto State, the league has two matchups this weekend that may change locations or dates due to Hurricane Matthew. "Should weather conditions or other factors that impact game day operations change, the university will make adjustments accordingly", he said. SC counters with running backs A.J. Turner (57 carries, 270 yards, 2 TDs) and David Williams (23 carries, 110 yards).

Several college football games have been rescheduled as the southeastern United States braces for Hurricane Matthew.

The primary concern with playing the game at Williams-Brice Stadium, aside from the obvious weather conditions, was the inability for the state of SC to provide troopers and security for the game. It's been ugly so far as SC has turned the ball over three times and rushed for 20 yards on nine carries. The bulldogs are certainly favored against a SC team that is only five games into it's rebuild under Will Muschamp, but SC is showing some positive signs on defense, even if their offense is light years away.
