According to reports, the diamond merchant Savji Dholakia is the owner of Hare Krishna Exports and is known to give such generous bonuses to his employees every year when Diwali is around the corner.

Mr Dholakia said, the gifts have been given based on the performance of the employees. It's the golden jubilee of the firm and almost Rs. 51 crore has been spent on the 1,716 best performer employees as Diwali bonus.

This is not the first time he has gifted bonuses for his employees, last year he had gifted 491 cars and 200 flats and this year he has increased the number.

This Diwali is going to be extra special for the employees of a Surat-based diamond tycoon, as the large-hearted billionaire had chose to give over a 1000 cars and 400 flats to those who performed well as bonus. The company will keep out last year's recipients from the new proposal. "We are arranging for houses for those who already own cars, while those who don't have a four-wheeler will get one", Dholakia, who runs a diamond export company in Surat, said.

Hare Krishna Exporters employs more than 5,500 people and has an annual turnover of over ₹6,000 crore. The year before that, he spent Rupees 50 crores on bonus. In 2013, Dholakia had given Chevrolet Beat cars to 72 of 100 employees who had met targets, just before Christmas, while the rest were given cash above Rs 3 lakh to pay up their home loans. He has been making headlines by giving expensive gifts to his employees since 2012, when three of them received cars for their performance. "We don't treat diamond polishers as employees but as family members as they hail from the same area from where we belong".
