Suspended University of Wisconsin-Madison student Alec Cook (c.) appears in a Madison, Wis., court Thursday. Cook was charged with four counts of sexual assault, strangulation and false imprisonment stemming from the allegations. "He faces 14 felony counts, including second- and third-degree sexual assault, strangulation and false imprisonment, and one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree sexual assault".
Fifth woman: The fifth woman reported that she met Cook at an experiment for a class last spring. Officers searching Cook's apartment found a black book listing women he'd met and documenting his "sexual desires", authorities said. She told police at one point she told Cook "OK, let's just have sex" but she believes she said that to make herself feel as if the assault was consensual, the complaint said.
A Dane County Judge set a $200,000 cash bail for 20-year-old Alec Cook on Thursday afternoon in a Dane County courtroom.
Cook's attorney did not respond to requests for comment. Madison police told the Wisconsin State Journal that dozens of women have reported their encounters with Cook.
In particular, Van Wagner took issue with a reference in the notebook, mentioned in court on Monday and in the search warrant, to the word "kill", which he said was taken out of context and led unfair characterizations on the internet.
Thornley Parisi said that while it can be helpful for victims to come forward and report when they've been assaulted, ultimately, it's up to them to decide what they want to do.
Cook's attorney said the notebook entries can be interpreted in many different ways, according to WKOW.

Cook was initially charged on October 16 when a woman came forward saying she was strangled nearly to the point of unconsciousness while having non-consensual sex with him at his off-campus apartment. According to investigators, several women came forward with accusations after the first woman told her story of how cook allegedly assaulted and choked her for hours.
On Oct. 19, a second woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by Cook in February. She said she told him "no", but he continued striking her and was "going insane" striking her on the back and legs. She recalled feeling fuzzy after drinking something he'd offered her and says they had vaginal intercourse despite her saying "no".
The first woman told police that "light kissing" quickly escalated to forceful touching as she told Cook to stop. Nicholson Goetz maintains the crime during the ballroom dance class never took place.
"We continue to urge other women to come forward if they have had contact with Cook or have witnessed something".
Another woman told police that she met Cook during a human sexuality class and began dating him in January, the complaint said.
Around 11:30 p.m. he invited her to his downtown apartment.
"She told a detective, 'I saw the news story and was empowered by another girl being able to tell what happened to her, that I thought I could now finally tell, '" a police report reads. She told police "she felt like an object and not a person".
