Bad Brains Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

British synth-pop group Depeche Mode and progressive rock band Yes are among four British acts nominated for induction into next year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Along with Pearl Jam, this is Tupac's first year of eligibility. Others back for another chance include pop superstar Janet Jackson, who was nominated for the first time a year ago.

The inductees will be announced in December, with an induction concert to follow next April at the Barclays Center in NY, which will be broadcast on HBO.

Known for hits like "Any Way You Want It", "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms", Journey's only remaining original, constant member is guitarist Neal Schon, a native of Tinker Air Force Base and 2013 inductee of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations, winners announcement, and induction ceremony offer thrice-yearly opportunities for music fans to battle about what "rock" means, what a hall of fame means, and how this particular hall of fame operates. The Hall of Fame has inducted just five rap groups in its history: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and N.W.A.
