The American Meteor Society received more than 150 reports of the bright flash

A mysterious bright light streaked across the night sky in Florida this week.

The footage shows the moment the fireball - or meteor - approaches Earth and explodes in a flash.

The bright flash was captured on the dashboard cameras of several cruisers belonged to the North Point Police Department in west Florida.

"Never seen anything like that before", the expert said, adding that he "heard a little rumbling after it faded away".
