Dolly Parton gives support to wildfire victims, 'my people'

Country music icon Dolly Parton's home and businesses in East Tennessee were spared from deadly wildfires last month, but she's pitching in to help her neighbors recover from the devastation.
In addition fans can count on performances from Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Amy Grant, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, Michael W. Smith, LoCash and Montgomery Gentry. The telethon will also air on the Great American Country (GAC) network.
Parton had previously pledged that her companies will donate $1,000 per month for six months to families affected by the disaster.
All donations will go to benefit the My People Fund, which provides assistance for Sevier County residents who lost their homes in the fires.

"We are mountain tough", Parton said.
"I'm truly honored that these artists are giving their time and energy to help us raise money for everyone affected by the wildfires", Parton added in a statement. Eastern and streamed live on USAToday.com and affiliate newspapers in Tennessee.

However today, day four, the court heard the Welsh Government had no intention to stop Brexit and accepted the referendum result. The government agreed late Tuesday, fearing defeat at the hands of the opposition and rebellious, pro-EU Conservative lawmakers.
"My family show at Dollywood is called 'My People, ' and so we felt that would be the ideal thing, because it's about my people, the ones who aren't blood I could say are good neighbors and feel like family", Parton explained.
During the telethon, viewers will be asked to call (866) CARE MORE to donate to the My People Fund.
"My home in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee is some place special", Parton said.
The Achy Breaky Heart singer revealed the pastor at the Little White Church in Gatlinburg, where he got married in the mid-1980s, was among the people who lost their lives in the fires.
