6 injured in explosion at southeast Minnesota truck plant

The explosion happened Wednesday morning at McNeilus, a truck manufacturer in Dodge Center.

Bill Ketchum, the town's mayor, said things "sound tragic" but didn't have any details.

The sheriff said the explosion was in the final paint building and damaged doors at both ends of the facility.

Two were airlifted with severe burn injuries - one to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and another to Mayo Clinic - Saint Marys, then to Regions Hospital. All employees have been accounted for, he said. Another two were being treated at the scene for minor medical issues, the sheriff said.

Rose said a total of four people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

"Law enforcement, medical and fire responded, and determined the explosion took place in the paint booth of that building", Rose said.

After the blast, the plant was closed down for the remainder of the day, and police temporarily shut down Highway Street E and other nearby roads except for employees leaving the area.

Emergency crews are at the scene of a possible explosion that injured several people at a truck plant in southeastern Minnesota.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Troy Christianson tells KTTC-TV (http://bit.ly/2jjSXB2) that five people are hurt.

A woman answering the phone says the company has no comment. Two people have been flown to the hospital for medical treatment and another three have been transported by ambulance.
