Miss France Iris Mittenaere became the new Miss Universe 2016 although the pageant took place in 2017.
She takes over from the until-now reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach from Philippines.
Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier was named first runner-up, and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar was second runner-up.
The contestant representing France has emerged as the 64th Miss Universe.
All the participants from around the world showed off their beauty, talent and intelligence during the contest. As you know French people really love beauty pageants, but they don't really know Miss Universe because never do our country win.
"I found her to be a little less confident with the interview process", she said. She is also part of Les Bonnes Fées, an organization of 14 current and former Miss France winners who help the disadvantaged and ill in the country.
US Travel Ban Working 'Very Nicely,' Says Donald Trump
Trump's order directs the State Department to stop issuing visas to Syrian nationals and halts the processing of Syrian refugees. As explained in this MSNBC report, in February 1939, the US Congress voted down a bill to accept 20,000 German Jewish children.
One of the five Miss Universe 2017 finalists chided President Donald Trump's election during the worldwide beauty pageant in the Philippines Sunday night. She said: "I would be lying if I said I was not disappointed, I had expectations and goals".
Mittenaere was supported in her quest by Miss France 2017, Alicia Aylies (Miss Guyane 2017).
He said even if Medina did not win the title, her performance was more than enough to make him proud as he had come to accept her Waterloo, her communication skills. "When you join Miss Universe, you have to be confident". ABS-CBN News reports Diaz based it on the fact that no country has won the title yet while hosting the pageant, except the U.S. and other Western territories.
Meanwhile, the Philippines' Medina climbed all the way to the Top 6, backed by the deafening cheers of the sold-out, hometown crowd at the MOA Arena. She then confidently answered with a response that Trump, who has claimed without evidence that as many as 5 million people voted illegally in the November election, would likely have rebuked.
Harvey - one of the biggest presenters in the USA - apologised for the awkward mix-up on social media - but later admitted Miss Colombia still wasn't talking to him.
