Canon Announces EOS 800D, EOS 77D DSLRs and EOS M6 Mirrorless Camera

Canon Announces EOS 800D, EOS 77D DSLRs and EOS M6 Mirrorless Camera

Expanding its portfolio of the EOS M Series, Canon on Tuesday launched the new M6 digital camera with interchangeable lens.

Canon claims to have taken into consideration feedback from entry-level photographers who expressed an interest in learning to go beyond the program mode of a DSLR camera.

Together, both the T7i and 77D center around a 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, a similar, if not identical, chip to the one from the 80D.

The EOS M6 is the latest addition to Canon's mirrorless range of cameras designed as modern all-rounder reflecting the best balance of convenient portability and easy functionality. It's LCD unit is fixed, however, and it doesn't come with an electronic viewfinder (EVF).

Despite having the biggest number, the M6 isn't Canon's high-end mirrorless - that's still the M5.

The EOS M6 will be available in April with prices starting at $780 for the body only, $200 less than the EOS M5. However, there are no unique features out of the ordinary that would make you choose this camera over other mid-range models from other manufacturers.

Canon EOS M6 Hot on the heels of the Canon EOS M5 release, the M6 stuffs the same internals into a smaller and extremely portable body.

The EOS 77D offers numerous same features as the T7i and the specifications are the same. The touchscreen on that camera is limited to tilting 85 degrees up and 180 degrees down, which isn't much good if the camera is mounted on a tripod. The new T7i also features a full range of manual and automatic exposure controls, making it both user friendly and versatile.

Both the cameras are upgraded to the DIGIC 7 Image Processor that can handle ISO range of 100-25600, enable recording of HDR movies and time-lapse videos and continuous Shooting at up to 6 frames per second. However, it has an advantage over the T7i because of its ability to shoot through flickering light.

As with the M5, the M6's video mode is stuck at Full HD 1080p/60. The Rebel T7i will be $750 for the body, $900 with a new 18-55 mm lens, and $1,300 with a new 18-135 mm lens.

Canon 77D The Canon 77D is almost identical to the Canon T7i in terms of features and quality. The camera control is useful for adjusting settings and recording when you can't be close to the camera, but whether this is usable in a filming environment is yet to be known. The new M6 has a 24.2 MP CMOS APS-C sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS phase-detect autofocus and a DIGIC 7 image processor. The electronic stabilisation can be combined with optical stabilisation when using compatible Canon EF or EF-S lenses.
