Girl who was subject of Amber Alert charged in murder of mom

Chastinea Reeves, a 15-year-old IN teen who was found safe after a statewide Amber Alert, has been charged with first-degree murder IN the stabbing death of her mother.
Investigators were unable to locate Reeves, prompting them to issue the Amber Alert.
Murder charges have been filed against a Gary teenager who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier this week. Officials said the teen's 34-year-old mother was the victim of a homicide early Monday morning. Kelli McMillan later claimed that the teen was "hysterical". The state of IN approved the Gary Police Department's request for an Amber Alert when Chastinea Reeves of Gary could not be found Monday afternoon. "She run out the back door when the police come".
County Prosecutor Bernard Cater said his office is seeking a waiver from a juvenile court judge to move Reeves to adult court.
Police did not give a motive or details about their investigation. She was found Tuesday, but is now being held in the juvenile center in Lake County. Jay Lew, one of the many neighbors who were shocked by the news told local media.
