John made the comments during an appearance on today's edition of Good Morning Britain as he told hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh that Danny's part as Mick Carter, the landlord of the Queen Vic, meant he had a busy schedule.
However, after undergoing talks with EastEnders producers, who are said to be concerned about the amount of drinking he has been doing of late, Danny has apparently been told he must take an "enforced break" from the much-loved show.
'He appears to be exhausted.
An insider of the show spoke to The Sun about the decision: "It is best that he takes some time out to sort his life out".

The actor is a show favourite and bosses supposedly want to make sure he's better so he can return to the soap.
Danny Dyer *will* be taking a break from EastEnders, the BBC has confirmed.
Danny had hinted last month about leaving the show as his current contract is up for renewal later in the year. He is now in the midst of a few complicated storylines that sees him struggling with financial difficulties as well as getting his head around that kiss with daughter-in-law Whitney.
The source said: "At the end of the day, he remains the biggest star of the show - so everyone is determined to get him back to his best". A lot of scripts had to be torn up and it's caused a lot of behind-the-scenes chaos. He told the Daily Star he'd be interested in playing the next Doctor: "I could see myself in the scarf and all that. I'd keep my accent too".
