Area gasoline prices continue to drop


Bridgeport gas prices on February 20 have ranged widely over the years: $2.02 per gallon in 2016, $2.44 in 2015, $3.73 in 2014, $4.06 in 2013 and $3.93/g in 2012.

The area average price is 7.7 cents per gallon lower than one month ago, according to the market survey.

In the spring of 2016, with oil prices climbing, both Kansas and Missouri saw gas prices spike about 75 cents a gallon, but McTeague doesn't expect that steep of a climb this year.

"Crude oil continues to drive the market", said Josh Carrasco, a AAA spokesman.

The local price is 10 cents below the national average.

In Florida, average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.283, up less than one cent from a week ago, 9 cents lower than a month ago and 53 cents more expensive than previous year. A year ago at this time, gas was selling for $1.691 per gallon.

State of Tennessee- $2.05, flat from last week's $2.05. This time previous year, the average was $1.69.

The highest average was about $2.45 in the Marquette area. It was the sixth consecutive week Marquette had the highest average price in the state.
