The White House has repeatedly denied reports of internal strife, which have frequently dogged Trump's administration since Inauguration Day. Whenever some news comes out, Colbert and his staff are there to make fun of it.
National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster suggested that the removal of chief White House strategist Steve Bannon from the Principals Committee of the National Security Council (NSC) doesn't say much about Bannon's standing in the White House.

The meeting was called after multiple reports that Donald Trump may be considering a reorganization of his staff, which many believe would be the end of Bannon and Priebus in the White House. The president is rumored to be considering replacing White House whipping boy Priebus with several candidates, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Goldman Sachs alum/Trump economic adviser Gary Cohn. He's also played a key role in Trump's foreign policy, including the US relationship with China. Earlier this year, Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn, resigned when it became clear he had discussed sanctions with Kislyak and misrepresented those conversations to Vice President Mike Pence.
