As for the reward, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said, "There is an award up to $50,000 for the arrest of Mr. Steve Stephens". She said he was upset about a recent break-up and told her it was the last time they would see each other.

Lane said her and Stephens were romantically involved for a while and had discussed getting married. He then shot him, forever linking Lane and the victim's family.

"I feel bad. The last thing that he would have said was my name and didn't know me or why he was saying it. And that's been hard", Lane said.

In the video, Stephens told Godwin the name of his girlfriend and said, "She's the reason that this is about to happen to you".

The sisters told Lane the killing is not her fault, and they don't hold any ill will toward her.
