Samsung To Launch Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus In India Today

The company has launched both the Galaxy S8 as well as the Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones here for the Indian market at an event here in New Delhi. It will also be available on online from today on Flipkart which is its online partner.

The Galaxy S8 comes with an intuitive soft key, in place of the home key, that has a pressure sensor embedded under the display.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 ended up as a disaster for the company, but it seems the company is still confident to launch the successor of the phablet to cover up for the mess created a year ago. The Samsung Galaxy S8+, as the name suggests, is bigger and comes with a larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with same QHD resolution but 531ppi. Samsung has also brought the much sought after water resistance feature on the Galaxy S8 and the S8+.

The global electronics giant has scheduled the Galaxy S8 launch event in New Delhi at 12 pm today. The phones available in India will run on Samsung's Exynos processor and have 4 GB of RAM.

Comparing the newly launched Galaxy S8 with its predecessor will show you some major changes this time. Both the devices will have 18:9 aspect ratio, which has also been seen its contemporary rival, LG G6, and will offer a bezel-less design. The Note 8 is also not the largest Samsung smartphone on the market, however, as the South Korean company released a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy W, which never made it to the American market. Other details about the handset are not available, but we'll update you as soon as we get to hear more about it.

Optics include a 12MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture on the back having "Dual Pixel autofocus" technology for snappy autofocus speed, and an 8MP front camera with "Smart autofocus" a first on any smartphone. Both the smartphones bear the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card support. The smartphones are running Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box and have a dedicated button on the side for Bixby, Samsung's new AI personal assistant. Both have fast-charging capability through the USB C port.
