Local, state unemployment rates take strong dip in April

The unemployment rate in the Orlando metro area was 3.6 percent. It also noted that in the previous year, 371,000 people entered Florida's labor force, a growth of 3.8 percent, while the national labor-force growth was 0.8 percent.
Lake County's unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, down from 4.3 percent in March and down from 4.6 percent a year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in April.
In March, when state employers expanded their payrolls by a meager 200 positions, the nation added a disappointing 98,000 jobs.

"The job market remained very strong in the Jacksonville area in April, with the unemployment rate falling below 4 percent for the first time since May 2007", Loh said.
Texas added the most jobs in April (+30,400), followed by Minnesota (+15,100) and Wisconsin (+14,800).
The U.S. unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in April. Since April 2016, this sector is up 4,400 jobs or 1.1 percent. Rates declined over the year in all counties.
