Warriors take 2-0 series lead in NBA Finals

Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors

OAKLAND, Calif. - There was a bit of a sense of calm around the Cleveland Cavaliers as they arrived for Game 2 on Sunday afternoon. We're not thinking we are very close even though we are. Irving finished the game with 19 points, seven assists, two rebounds, and two steals. The Cavs team that lost on Sunday, 132-113, to go down 0-2 in the NBA Finals would in most circumstances be spectacular and unsolvable. He then finished off the play with a layup, unlike past year where LeBron gave Curry a stare down after a block. The Warriors followed with a 16-4 run that included 3-pointers from Curry and Thompson, a three-point play from Durant in transition and four points from Shaun Livingston. He's so positive and always helping his players. It would help if their bench, which was woeful for a second consecutive game, would carry some weight.

But Stephen Curry remembers the epic flameout of last June all too well. Over and over he invaded the paint, scoring bucket after bucket with a mix of force and grace. He did not immediately miss any time and went on to lead the Warriors to their first National Basketball Association title in 40 years.

James was equally spectacular with his own triple-double of 29 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds, but yet again didn't get almost enough help, despite Kevin Love's 27 points and 19 from Kyrie Irving. No one else has more than two.

James' performance tied him with Hall of Famer Magic Johnson with eight career triple-doubles in the Finals.

" A Klay Thompson breakout, his first game with four 3s since the first round against the Blazers, finishing the night with 22 points on only 12 shots".

Curry provided the coach more than a glimpse of his greatness from up close after Kerr had been watching games from the locker room while speaking to his players beforehand and at halftime. And we forced them to 20 turnovers, and they still beat us pretty good. So playing an unbelievably good, competitive team, dominant team. But he's never played a team like these Warriors. Kevin Love has been a different player, and is putting up 21 points and 14 rebounds a night. Trust me, we know, it was 2-0 a year ago and we lost.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant collaborated on song
Beside winning gold medals together at the last two Olympics, KD and LeBron reportedly linked up for a rap song in 2011. And while both players confirmed the track exists but laughed off questions about it, apparently it's pretty good.

Ballet Dancer Leaps Into Action, Saves Man From Subway Tracks
The injured man, whose name has not been released, was allegedly pushed onto the tracks by a woman who initially fled the scene. He was on the platform of 72 Street Broadway with his wife when they saw a man falling onto the tracks and looked for help.

All was right again for the Warriors with their leader back in his usual spot on the bench. As promised, they played faster and cleaner, getting their possessions up and turnovers down.

The Cavs even tried to be relentless, they kept coming at Warriors, cutting the lead down over and over and over. The key, of course, was (and is) to accomplish that without becoming a distraction for his team - that and having the clarity to make the in-game decisions necessary to put the Warriors in a great position to win.

"There's an old saying, 'You don't miss the water 'til the well runs dry,"' the 80-year-old Attles said after receiving the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award. Just trying to be aggressive and enjoy the moments. The trouble is that Golden State runs so many actions involving so many unsafe players that to even have a hope of containing them requires something nearing perfection.

The Warriors' 132-113 victory on Sunday drew an average of 20.1 million viewers, up 13 percent from Game 2 previous year and the most for a Game 2 since Chicago and Utah met in 1998.

What was so discouraging for the Cavs is that they played better in Game 2 but the result didn't really change. "But that's like the look that I see in him throughout these Finals". A dominant 2-0 start to this series mirrors what we saw in 2016.
