In an interview with Bloomberg, Cook stated Apple has been responding to all data requests from United Kingdom police and added that the United Kingdom has gone through "the lawful process" in order to obtain this data.

In the interview, held after the first day of Apple's WWDC 2017, Cook was asked on Apple's stance regarding the issues of privacy and security amid the terror attacks happening around the world. Last month, a suicide bomber killed more than 20 people in Manchester after an Ariana Grande concert. Five people were killed in a auto and knife attack on London's Westminster Bridge in March. In March, a lone attacker rammed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before stabbing a police officer outside Parliament.

Cook, however, did not reveal which attack (or attacks) he was referring to. Last year, Apple had a major row with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which was seeking information on a California gunman who had an iPhone.

Cook said on Monday that Apple's encryption is misunderstood.

Cook, however, clarified that providing metadata is different from breaking encryption.
