Amit Shah meets Uddhav Thackeray, seeks support for presidential election

The Sena would make its stand clear on Tuesday, Thackeray said, addressing Shiv Sena cadre on the party's 51st anniversary.
Asked about Fadnavis' remark that the BJP was prepared for snap Assembly elections, in an apparent reference to the continued strain in ties with the Shiv Sena, Shah on Saturday said, "What he meant was that if mid-term polls are forced on us, we are ready to fight".

Mumbai: The National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) oldest constituent Shiv Sena accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of playing "vote bankpolitics" by proposing a Dalit nominee-Bihar governor Ramnath Kovind-for the post of president on Monday. In his address to party faithfuls, Mr. Thackeray took exception to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' allegation that "a political hand" was behind the recent farmer agitations in the state.
"If the government puts any such twisted conditions, I would tear that paper (notification) myself".
