Amit Shah to meet 'opposing' ally Uddhav Thackeray


BJP chief Amit Shah held a close-door meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter's residence on Sunday.

In the editorial the Shiv Sena said that while the BJP may win in case of snap polls in Maharashtra and also get its presidential nominee elected, but wondered whether it would be able to save the valley. According to him, Uddhav told Shah his party will take a decision on Sunday. However, Shah made it clear that both the names suggested by the Sena, that of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and agriculture scientist MS Swaminathan weren't in the reckoning. The BJP president urged the Sena to support an NDA nominee for the president's post.

Most opposition parties - including the Congress, the Left Front and the Trinamool Congress - are waiting for the BJP to name its candidate.
