Bill Cosby Tour 'Not About Sex Assault'

The stage for Bill Cosby's next legal challenge shifts to California with a hearing scheduled Tuesday to set a trial date in a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a teen at the Playboy Mansion more than 40 years ago.

Cosby sat for a more-than seven-hour deposition in the Huth case on October 9 past year.

A date for that civil trial was tentatively set for July 30, 2018.

Andrea Constand accused Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2004, while she worked at Temple University, Cosby's alma mater.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Bill Cosby's "town hall" tour is unlikely to happen before his retrial on sex assault charges in Pennsylvania, one of his lawyers said Tuesday. Almost 60 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault and he's now facing lawsuits from 10 women. She was reportedly 15 years old at the time.

Constand's is the sole criminal case against the comedian, after more than fifty women have accused him of sexual assault or harassment; numerous alleged assaults have exceeded the statute of limitations.

Cosby's spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, first put forward the idea for the town hall talks in an interview with a Birmingham, Alabama, TV station last week, five days after Cosby's sex assault trial ended in a hung jury. She said Cosby is eager to return to performing.

A lawyer for Bill Cosby says she does not think he will speak publicly before his second criminal trial in Pennsylvania.

Asked whether his attorneys would allow that before the second trial, Cosby attorney Angela Agrusa told reporters after a hearing in a California civil case: "I can't imagine that we would". Sounds like Cosby didn't like the public's reaction.

Wyatt said he's received "hundreds of calls from civic organizations and churches requesting for Mr. Cosby to speak to young men and women about the judicial system..."

Only one accusation has led to criminal charges, and Pennsylvania prosecutors have said they will retry Mr Cosby within months.

That case is the only instance in which Cosby faces criminal charges. "Any further information about public plans will be given at the appropriate time".

Cosby is fighting lawsuits by 10 women on both coasts. Cosby denied the allegation, stating that they had a sexual encounter that was consensual.
