Crystal Palace has announced the season-long loan of defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah via their official Twitter.

The 19-year-old has made 21 appearances for United and still has a future at Old Trafford after being given a new contract in October.

Palace manager Frank de Boer knows Fosu-Mensah from their time together when the player was in Ajax's academy, and has been a fan of his ability since then. "I am only 19 years old and still have a lot to learn and therefore getting the opportunity to play more games on a regular basis will help my development".

Mensah played a vital role in United's defence last season and performed admirably for a player at his age, with his current contract spanning until the summer of 2020, he is tipped to be a flawless replacement for Antonio Valencia who has served the club for eight years and still counting.

Packers: 3 things to watch in preseason opener against Eagles
It would be the 16th time in National Football League history that they face the Philadelphia Eagles in a preseason bout. After arriving at the hospital, the Packers announced that Dupre had movement in all of his extremities.

In total so far, Tim has tallied 21 Reds appearances across all competitions and operated most commonly at right-back, but the talented Netherlands worldwide has displayed his versatility by also performing admirably at centre-back and in central midfield.

Now with Palace, Fosu-Mensah looks to gain some quality minutes in the Premier League as the versatile young Dutchman can play anywhere in the back line and is familiar with the defensive midfielder position.

Palace appointed De Boer as their new manager and Fosu-Mensah explained how a conversation with his compatriot convinced him to make a loan move to Selhurst Park.
