Trump admin speaking in one voice on N Korea threat: State Dept

Gorka then used an anecdote involving a Holocaust survivor to suggest North Korea's threats against the U.S. was somehow similar to that posed against Jews by the Nazis in the Second World War. "Secretary Tillerson is the chief diplomat of the United States, and it is his portfolio to handle those issues".
Gorka explained to Fox News he was referring to the media asking Tillerson about military matters, in this case the situation with North Korea. "Americans should sleep well at night", Tillerson said, tempering Trump's promise to unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea if it continued to threaten the U.S. Tillerson emphasized that no conflict was imminent. Gorka seems to be saying it's right back to where Trump suggested it was - or at least that Trump reserved the right to consider mere threats to be acts of war. When Claman noted that there is audio of the conversation, he said he had the audio too and that he was denying that he said it was inappropriate for Tillerson to tell the American people to calm down.
That letter also asked about steps to address humanitarian issues such as the reunification of Korean families separated by the armistice that concluded the Korean War, and the return of remains of US service members left in North Korea after the war.
It also came as Mattis and Tillerson struck different public notes on North Korea, something that might simply be reflective of their different roles in the government.
"The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people", Mattis said in the statement. North Korea said it is drawing up plans to fire missiles at Guam.

Some lawmakers argue the issue could be resolved with a simple vote in Parliament, but Turnbull's government seeks to gauge public support first.
Global markets pressured by North Korea fears
Seagate Technology gained 2.3 percent after investor ValueAct disclosed that it had acquired a 7.2 percent stake in the company. Spot gold prices were slightly lower at 1,285.22 an ounce, touching a two-month high earlier.
State Department official Heather Nauert said during a press briefing that Tillerson's advice on North Korea should be listened to. If a journalist doesn't know the difference between the secretary of state and the department of defense, they should hand in their credentials.
GORKA: I never said that secretary of state was - that's fake news 101.
But, he clarified again, "when reporters try to force him to make statements regarding military options, they have no idea what they're talking about, and if they think that's a story, they're not journalists".
They also called on Trump to uphold the Constitution and seek congressional authorization before carrying out any pre-emptive attack on the North. That means you don't understand what the words secretaries of state means.
