The relations between Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav started deteriorating after the JD (U) chief chose to leave the Bihar grand alliance with RJD and Congress to join forces with BJP in forming the government in the state as RJD Chief Lalu Yadav and his family members, including former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, faced corruption charges. The development comes a day after Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
The JD (U) is expected to endorse a proposal to join the NDA in its national executive meeting in Patna on August 19. "This party is not Kumar's alone but also belongs to me", said a seemingly defiant Yadav, a founder-leader of the party, who had merged his original Janata Dal with Kumar's Samata Party, in 2003, to form the JD (U).
Earlier, Janata Dal (United)'s Sharad Yadav had expressed his dislike regarding Nitish leaving the Grand Alliance and had announced that he will join hands with the Congress. A letter, signed by nine JD (U) MPs - seven from Rajya Sabha and two from Lok Sabha - has been handed to Naidu.
Just a day after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's statement that Sharad Yadav is free to take a decision regarding his next political move, the JD (U) on Saturday replaced him with Ramchandra Prasad Singh as the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha.
"There are two JD-Us in Bihar, one is official and another is of the people". "All the party MLAs and MLCs from Bihar are with us".
