The Pro Football Hall of Fame released its initial list of 108 nominees for the 2018 class on Monday night, and on it were receiving greats like Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Hines Ward, and Steve Smith. Moss is one of the greatest wide receivers of all-time, leading the National Football League in touchdown receptions five times in his career; he averaged 956 receiving yards per season over 15 years.
The group, announced Tuesday evening, features running backEdgerrin James, one of 15 finalists two years ago, and center Jeff Saturday, in his first year of eligibility.
Almost every other wide receiver nominee-there were 12 besides Smith-surpassed those marks in a two-year stretch over their careers.
In other words, he has Pro Football Hall of Fame credentials. He started all 16 games in ten of his seasons with Indianapolis.
Neal, a bruising fullback, played with the Saints from 1993-1996.

The list of modern-era nominees will be reduced to 25 semifinalists in November and, subsequently, to 15 finalists in January. Of the 18 finalists, 15 will be comprised of those from the list in addition to Senior Finalists Robert Brazile and Jerry Kramer, as well as Contributor Finalist Bobby Beathard. The Class of 2018 will be determined February 3 in Minneapolis, the day before Super Bowl LII. The selection process bylaws provide that four to eight inductees will be selected.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2018 will be formally enshrined into Canton in August.
