According to Georgia Powers Spokesperson Holly Crawford, the man was part of the 8,000 personnel brought in to help with power restoration following Irma, but he was not a Georgia Power employee.
More than 3 million people in Florida and Georgia remain without power days after Hurricane Irma unleashed its fury on the states.
Savannah/Brunswick - Sept. 16, 10 p.m. All of Georgia Power's resources were held in the state prior to the storm and have remained in Georgia to lead the company's restoration effort. All of the other outages are individual in nature. Never pull tree limbs off power lines yourself or enter areas with debris, downed trees or standing water as downed power lines may be buried in wreckage. "Our restoration team, comprised of more than 21,500 men and women from almost 30 states and Canada, is making steady progress every hour across 27,000 square miles of territory impacted by Irma, and we continue to bring thousands of customers back on each and every day".
Since Monday, power has been restored to more than 3.5 million homes and businesses in Florida. Thursday morning, FPL officials said they have restored power to 70 percent of customers.

There are now less than 75,000 customers experiencing outages. Customers can report and check the status of an outage 24 hours a day by contacting Georgia Power at 888-891-0938. But those hoping to get their money back from Florida Power and Light are out of luck.
