Louisville game means more to Clemson's Trayvon Mullen against cousin Lamar Jackson

Clemson has had little problem regularly scoring points since 2011 when now-SMU coach Chad Morris took over as offensive coordinator. It could have national ramifications.

As the third week of college football continues on Saturday, Clemson Tigers and Louisville Cardinals lock horns at 8:00 PM EST in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, Louisville, Kentucky.

The Buzz: The Penn State tailback rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown during the Nittany Lions' 33-14 win over Pitt Saturday. LSU is 14-6 ATS in its last 20 games against Mississippi State.

The Gators need better productions from their running game and more consistent quarterback play if they want to win at home over Tennessee. "It's going to be a loud environment, and so we've got to get some of that communication stuff cleaned up, and I'm confident we will". "Where we came from, it's just big that we both went to schools".

But Mayfield's biggest moment of the night came after the game. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings, Jackson may have taken the nation by surprise with his video game-like numbers last season, but Mullen says he's not exactly shocked by his cousin's success. Defensively, Louisville is allowing 31.5 points and 372.5 yards per game. Deshaun Watson, who was a first-round draft pick of the Houston Texans, rallied the Tigers with two fourth quarter touchdown passes.

"We've got to look out for each other", O'Daniel said.

Unlike previous year, when the Louisville-Clemson game featured the nation's top two offensive weapons in Watson and Louisville quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor Lamar Jackson, the focus will be on Louisville's offense vs. Clemson's defense. Back at the helm of the Cardinals' offense, Jackson has already accumulated 771 yards passing, 231 yards rushing and 8 total touchdowns this season. When quarterback Deshaun Watson joined the team in 2014, production went into overdrive with the Tigers averaging almost 40 points and more than 500 yards a game on the way to a national championship.

Wolverines on upset alert against Air Force
Running back Ty Isaac does have nine carries for 61 rushing yards, but MI is now being outrushed as a team by the Falcons. He didn't help his case for more playing time against Air Force , fumbling on the Wolverines' second drive of the game.

The Tigers have limited opponents to just over 118 yards per contest, including just 40 through the air. The Cards got past Purdue and North Carolina without showing much except that Jackson may be even better as a junior than he was as a sophomore.

Vanderbilt last went 3-0 in 2011 under first-year coach James Franklin before going on to consecutive 9-4 seasons. They'll try to control the ball and keep the ball out of Oklahoma State's hands.

Stopping Jackson is a different story.

The Tigers have a pair of All-American defensive tackles in Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence.

So, you know, maybe this game isn't all that exciting to you right now.

At most other positions, Clemson comes out in front. "They have to make sure they have contain and stay in gaps". Bringing him back this early could be risky against a well coached Beavers team with some playmakers on offense who have always played better in their conference schedule. That should give the Cardinals confidence heading into their first big battle of the campaign.

"He's a great player", Petrino said.

"If Louisville is going to win this football game, it's not going to be just Lamar Jackson", Herbstreit said.
