Kolkata: A day after Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) made a decision to ahead with "Shastra Pujan", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee warned that she will not tolerate any arms rallies in the state and will take strong action in this regard.
"It might interest Mamata Banerjee to play with the fire but not the RSS". Can she push Moharram a day back because of Durga Puja?
The RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal should not try to disturb peace and play with fire, she said, adding that Durga Puja had been traditionally celebrated with amity in Bengal where lakhs of people hit the streets. Last month, the West Bengal government had announced that it would distribute identity cards issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Rohingya children lodged in juvenile justice homes across the state after UNHCR officials in India wrote to the West Bengal government. "People can not stay peacefully during the [Durga] Puja".
Mamata said, "One thing should be clear- there shouldn't be any immersion during Muharram".
Actor-comedian Kevin Hart apologizes to wife, kids
The 2nd tape reportedly doesn't show Hart, but in the 3rd are 2 people in a room, one of them vaguely resembling the comedian. The second clip cuts to a bed, where you don't see the people in the bed but hear it creaking and someone getting slapped.
"The administration will take stern measures against those trying to disrupt peace", she said.
On Friday, the VHP had said that it intends to carry out shastra puja in at least 300 places across West Bengal on Vijaya Dashami.
Ms. Banerjee clarified that Durga Puja immersions would be allowed on Dashami, September 30, and would be prohibited only for a day, on October 1, on account of Muharram. I challenge Mamata Banerjee that she has put a ban on Durga visarjan (immersion) because of Moharram, can she do the other way round for Moharram? The time was later extended to 10 pm.
