The video that has gone viral on social media shows the man lying on the ground barefoot and being beaten ruthlessly with sticks by some unidentified locals.

In a gruesome incident that has come to light on Monday, a Nigerian national was allegedly tied to a post and beaten mercilessly in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar and all of it was caught on camera. In the mobile phone video, the Nigerian national is seen with his feet tied to a lamp post, begging for mercy as his attackers keep hitting him with sticks.

The report says that he was handed over to the police in a badly wounded state. He then was produced before a judge who sent him to jail, added the officer. But no one knew until the video emerged that he had been assaulted. DCP south Ishwar Singh said, "There was a theft attempt case registered at Malviya Nagar police station in which an African national was arrested".
