"Today I wonder, if this story had come to light at the time, would Weinstein have continued his behavior for another decade, evidenced by the scathing 2015 memo by former staffer Lauren O'Connor", Waxman wrote, referring to an internal memo by a former Weinstein Company employee alleging misconduct by Weinstein that was mentioned in the New York Times piece October 5.
In the interview, Damon told Deadline reporter Mike Fleming Jr. that he remembered making only a "one minute phone call" to Waxman to vouch for his own "perfectly professional experiences" with Lombardo and said that he did not know the full scope of Waxman's article about Weinstein's alleged misconduct. He praised the courage of the women who have spoken out with allegations against Weinstein.

Arquette described a 1990s incident at a Beverly Hills hotel in which Weinstein tried to make her give him a massage and then attempted to lead her hand to his penis. He has denied any allegations of non-consensual sex as well as acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. And that when Weinstein told Damon that Waxman was publishing a negative story on Lombardo, Weinstein asked the actor to relay his experiences working with the Miramax executive.
His spokeswoman Sallie Hofmeister added that Weinstein "has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path" with the hope that one day he's given "a second chance". The paper also reported that Weinstein reached private settlements with eight women, including actress Rose McGowan.
