Amazon introduces a new waterproof Kindle Oasis with bigger screen

Pre-orders for the new device start on November 15 on Amazon India. Different to last year's six-inch kindle, the new Oasis is now a significant seven inches, meaning page numbers will be cut down considerably, giving you the extra bonus of having over 30% more words per page.

The Oasis is available in two models, the 8GB with Wi-Fi support and the 32GB with cellular connectivity.

The device is IPX8 waterproof certified which means it can be submerged in water up to 2m for up to 60 minutes.

Not only is the Kindle Oasis the only waterproof e-reader Amazon offers, it's also the only Kindle model capable of storing Audible audiobooks. The device was the slimmest and lightest e-reader by the brand at the time. Now, the all-new Amazon Kindle has come with waterproofing feature which has always been a requirement for Kindle e-readers.

The water-safe fabric cover is priced at Rs. 2,999, and comes in Indigo, Charcoal and Sandstone colors, while the leather cover is priced at Rs. 3,999, and comes in Black or Merlot colors.

The new Kindle Oasis features a high-resolution Paperwhite display, thin ergonomic design and IPX8 waterproofing. Amazon has partnered with Vodafone to offer the free 3G connectivity in India, but says that the service will be available in "more than 100 countries and territories". Rs. 28,999) for the Wi-Fi and 3G model.
