Channing Tatum 'X-Men' spinoff 'Gambit' to release Valentine's Day 2019
Oct 13 2017 by Francis Osborne
Whether the Gambit movie actually does get made and makes this release date is another story, though; a February 2019 release would put it almost two and a half years after its initial October 2016 projected release date.
The date of February 14, 2019, has been booked for Gambit in the calendar of Twentieth Century Fox. The news comes via Deadline, for the X-Men film that will be directed by Gore Verbinski and is being produced by Tatum, Reid Carolin, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Fox has scheduled three movies in its expanding "X-Men" universe for 2018, with "New Mutants" set to open on April 13, "Deadpool 2" on June 1, and "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" on November 2. The character belongs to a subspecies of humans called mutants, and has the ability to mentally create, control, and manipulate pure kinetic energy - as well as being skilled in card throwing and hand-to-hand combat. The character was first played by Taylor Kitsch in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. but it failed to take off as the studio expected.
