Spanish food company, Isla Bonita, have gone and created The Avocado Light.
An average avocado has between 20g and 30g of fat, most of which is monosaturated fat which has been linked to reducing cholestrol and lowering the risk of cancer and heart disease, reported the BBC.
Avocado Light debuts in Madrid in late October. "Studies have found that people who consume avocados as part of a balanced healthy diet have smaller waist circumference and are less likely to overeat and are more successful in losing weight and maintaining lost weight".
For now, you're better off letting the Spaniards keep their dietavocado and simply keeping your avocado servings in check.
Avocado consumption is growing in Spain as availability increases.
It said it also ripens faster, and oxidises - or goes brown - slower. While they contain 322 calories and 30 grams of fat and should definitely be eaten in moderation, they contain vitamins like B, C, and E, and minerals like potassium and folate. Eating a regular avocado is already a perfectly healthy choice.
So, surely this means there's no need to reduce the fat content? There is also the Slimcado, which is simply a Florida avocado - confirming that avocados grown in different climates have different properties - claiming to have half the fat and a third of the calories as a California avocado.
