2-Minute Drill: Bears receivers step up in loss to Packers
Ноя 13 2017 by Marjorie Miles
Not a good look for Fox, who's now 12-29 at the helm of the Bears.
That was why this shouldn't have happened - and yet it did - keeping the Packers' season on life support and leaving Bears Nation to try to survive the 90-degree drop on the roller coaster this season has been through the first 10 weeks. The win was not only significant in the standings for Green Bay, but also for Hundley's confidence, as he found a way to make plays in crunch time to pick up his first win as an National Football League starter.
Trubisky did have a career day, passing for 297 yards and a score for a 97.0 quarterback rating, but it wasn't enough as Green Bay's defense held the predictable Bears offense in check. The first was a 19-yard touchdown that came late in the down, a situation where Hundley, despite his mobility, had not previously thrived. They improve to 5-4 on the season, and maybe, just maybe, the turning point in the season for Brett Hundley.
The Packers took advantage of a rookie QB today, after struggling against elite passers Drew Brees and Matthew Stafford the last 2 games. But the Bears also settled for three field goals. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come and the field goal unit irons everything out during the week.
Ben Roethlisberger's 32-yard pass to Antonio Brown to the Colts' 18-yard line with 35 seconds left set up Boswell's winning kick after he had missed a 37-yarder with 6:17 remaining that hit the right upright.
Green Bay put the Bears in 3rd and 9 or longer 10 times! John Fox' decision to challenge the ruling that Benny Cunningham was down at the 1-Yard line immediately backfired, as the rule was overturned....to a touchback.
Fox challenged the play, and the head official ruled that Cunningham fumbled the ball out of the back of the end zone, giving the ball back to the Packers.
Injuries to top tailbacks Aaron Jones (knee) and Ty Montgomery (ribs) forced the Packers' hand, pressing Hundley - a quarterback whose first two National Football League starts relied heavily on short passes and checkdowns - into a more aggressive mindset. I don't even think we went at him. Hundley stepped up big time against the Bears, taking shots downfield and completing them, as well as scrambling for a much-needed first down conversion.
But Chicago settled down with just one penalty in the second half. "We got a good thing going and we going to continue to build off of this".
After four weeks of teasing us into believing their arrow was finally pointing up, the Bears took a giant step backward Sunday, and it's fair to question whether it was one Fox and his staff will be able to survive. I mean, we're only hurting ourselves. "We were locked in, ready to go, but I guess we weren't just focused at that moment. It's nothing they were doing schematically". Each represented the second-highest totals of the season by a Bears wide receiver.
