EA Acquires Respawn Entertainment, New Titanfall Game In Development

It was revealed that Respawn Entertainment is actually already working on a new Titanfall game, though details on it are scarce at this point.

It hasn't even been a full month since Electronic Arts shut down Dead Space developer Visceral Games. Respawn's talent hasn't been lost on publisher Electronic Arts, which just agreed to acquire the studio for as much as $455 million. "Together, we've brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more awesome things in the future", Wilson added.

"Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world". This is being developed alongside of their previously announced Star Wars game, which does not now have a release date. Still, this didn't stop EA purchasing Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the game, with the express purposes of putting them to work on a property everyone knows - namely, Star Wars.

The acquisition begins with a cash payment of $151 million, with up to $164 in stocks given to employees. In addition, EA may be required to pay additional variable cash consideration that is contingent upon achievement of certain performance milestones, relating to the development of future titles, through the end of calendar 2022.
