A soldier lost his life in the encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam region.
An army soldier and three militants were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on November 6, a day when Centre's interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma, arrived in the restive state to initiate the dialogue process.
A gunfight was triggered on Tuesday after militants started firing upon security forces who were conducting search operations in a suspected spot. The operation is going on, he added.

A police spokesman said security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Nowbug Kund village this morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
Two encounters are underway in Kulgam and Pulwama areas of Jammu and Kashmir, say media reports. Reportedly, the fighting started after holed-up militants fired at the team of Indian armed forces comprising of troops from the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The police said that "the attack was repulsed and both the militants were killed".
