Woman Techie Dies After Being Set on Fire by Stalker in Chennai

Police said they detained the suspect, 23-year-old Akash, who was pursuing Induja against her wishes for almost a month. As per the reports, the person who set her on fire is a stalker of her. The mother and sister of the deceased also suffered severe burns while trying to save her. The girl's mother and sister were also injured in the incident.
The trio were rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College hospital.
The attack took place around 9pm on Monday, when Akash went to the woman's house in South Chennai's Velachery. As per the witnesses present at the spot, the hospital ambulance took nearly 40 minutes to reach the residence after receiving a call from a neighbour. Her mother Renuka (44) and sister Nivedha (20), who tried to rescue her, sustained burns and are being treated in hospital for their injuries. When she opened the door and stepped out, Akash splashed petrol at her and set her on fire.

While a few reports said that the neighbours were the ones who nabbed Akash, an India Today report said that the accused had escaped the scene and was arrested on Tuesday morning. However, Induja and her family had refused to talk with Ashok initially as he is claiming that he just wanted to speak to Indhuja for a few minutes.
Aakash, an engineering graduate, used to be friendly with Indhuja and has been stalking her for over a month, claiming that he was in love with her. And she quitted the job last month as Ashok was continuously stalking her. Induja's uncle said that Ashok was stalking Induja since her father went overseas for some work.
