"Why do you think I'm being harassed in the media and people pushing for an allegation in the last 28 days of the election?"
A week later, ABC's Mary Bruce offered a short (1 minute, 48 second) summary on Good Morning America that was light on the details of the case: "At times this case sounds a bit more like an episode of Scandal: Bribery charges, mistresses and alleged abuse of power - and at the heart of it all, a U.S. Senator on trial for federal corruption". Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., next year. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., and others have given similar answers. The woman said that Moore sexually assaulted her in a locked vehicle when she was 16.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he believes Moore's accusers and wants the former judge to end his candidacy. But by Monday, McConnell was saying flatly that Moore should quit the race. McConnell says he expects to discuss the issue with President Donald Trump once he returns to Washington.
Former GOP presidential nominees John McCain and Mitt Romney said flatly last week that Moore should exit.
"I'm a reporter for the Washington Post calling to find out if anyone at this address is a female between the ages of 54 to 57 years old, willing to make damaging remarks about candidate Roy Moore for a reward of between 5,000 and 7,000 dollars", the caller said in the voice mail.
Now, the Alabama Republican Party is the only other GOP entity that is participating in Moore's fundraising efforts.

Earlier in the day, Sessions said in testimony before Congress that he had no reason to doubt the five women who have accused Moore of misconduct when they were in their teens. She said he kissed her. Corfman said the two never had intercourse, but she told the Post that in a second meeting, he took off her trousers and shirt, and "guided her hand to touch him over his underwear". "I believe Leigh Corfman. Moore is unfit for office and should step aside".
As he runs down the stairs, Brooks goes with repeating this: "I believe the Democrats will do great damage to our country". "He is not fit to serve in the Senate and he should step aside immediately".
Is the burden [of proof] on Moore to prove these [allegations] false, versus someone to prove these are true in this situation?
In an interview, Moore campaign chairman Bill Armistead said he'd seen no indication that the state party will "back off in any way".
The national Democratic Party, however, has yet to invest directly in the race beyond funds to build the state party, and has not changed that stance since the Moore allegations surfaced. "I'm on the fence until we know more". "I don't take anything that I read in the newspaper at face value on either side - from anybody".
