After spending big in the summer, Jose Mourinho isn't expected to splash the cash too much in January, but there is talk that he has set his sights on one player in particular.

While Mourinho is said elsewhere to be disappointed at not signing a winger, particularly Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan, central midfield is the current priority.

United are unlikely to go back in for him mid-season, but they do have their eyes on as different type of creative player.

The Red Devils have been linked with Spanish global and Valencia star Carlos Soler for quite some time and according to Independent, Mourinho has made the 20-year-old his top transfer target in January.

Valencia are enjoying something of a revival on the sporting side, second in the league and thriving under new coach Marcelino but the club is still in a financial hole. Pogba has had a hand in 4 goals (2 goals and 2 assists) in as many matches this season in the league, meaning that he has improved on his efficiency In the final third, a trait United players don't now possess.
