This is the day YouTube joined forces with Ticketmaster in a partnership that found a super inventive way to jam another thing to buy into your content stream.
If you've ever been watching a music video and thought "I'd love to see them live", YouTube has your back.
According to YouTube, "We've been experimenting with ways we can offer a ticketing experience to fans and we're excited to announce our first ticketing partnership with Ticketmaster".
According to YouTube, the video site on Tuesday began featuring hundreds of artists' upcoming US tour dates on their YouTube videos.
YouTube has announced a partnership with Ticketmaster that will see tickets for artists' United States concerts promoted within their official videos.
YouTube signs Ticketmaster deal to start pushing artists' concerts
A view of "upcoming shows" will appear in the YouTube app below each connected video. While checking out a music video on an official artist or VEVO channel, simply scroll down below the description to see where the given artist is playing next. It has future plans to expand the feature worldwide. YouTube also hinted that this is only the first of other planned features that are meant to further strengthen the connection between artists and their fans.
"We're just getting started".
As of today, the feature is set up for North American tour dates only, but YouTube says it plans to expand globally. "And, as part of our ongoing commitment to support artists, we'll continue to find additional ways to make meaningful fan and artist connections", YouTube said. Google says that it's rolling this feature out for a few hundred artists that use Ticketmaster for tickets at first. If your favorite artist doesn't have shows listed, they're either not in the program yet or don't use Ticketmaster. In most cases, the artist already shares ticket price cash with the venue, the event promoter/organizer, their agent, their label, and Ticketmaster.
This isn't actually the first time that Ticketmaster has partnered with a web-based service. Both Spotify and Facebook allow Ticketmaster to sell concert tickets with integrated features.
Music videos consistently are among the most popular content on YouTube, which boasts more than 1.5 billion monthly visitors.
