IPhone 8 & X Charge Slower than Flagship Android Devices

Tested: OnePlus 5T Is the Fastest-Charging Smartphone

OnePlus 5T - the latest flagship launched by the Chinese smartphone maker to challenge major flagships by offering similar features at a competitive price - turns out to be the victor of fastest charging solution, Tom's Guide tests revealed.

Finally, the Pixel 2 nabbed the sixth spot and the Galaxy Note 8 the seventh.

The comprehensive comparison carried out by Tom's Guide involved two separate rounds of testing for seven 2017 flagships including the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Google Pixel 2, Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Apple iPhone 8, iPhone X, LG V30 and the OnePlus 5T. These days OEMs are introducing fast charging features, but which phone is the fastest?

The next-best phone in the first round of our testing was the LG V30, at 53 percent. The test highlights the strength of OnePlus' Dash Charge technology but it also makes it clear that iPhone users will be better off buying the separate adapter and cable for fast charging their iDevice. The iPhone 8 Plus was in mid by taking a charging figure of 26 percent for 30 minutes and 55 percent for 60 minutes. With even Apple onboard, wireless charging is surely the future, right?

If you're thinking of all the big names like Apple and Samsung, who'd have proficiency in fast charging technology in smartphones, you're in for a big surprise.

How much charge does your phone get in 30 minutes or in an hour?

In the first round of the showdown, Tom's Guide tested the battery percentage that various flagship smartphones can gain after 30 minutes of using their respective fast-charging features. Some people don't need a phone that charges so fast, while others who are constantly on the go might appreciate a phone that can charge quickly, so if you fall into that camp, then the OnePlus 5T could be worth checking out.

However, the same report suggested that the charging time of these iPhones charge slower than the rest of the field when charged with the included adapter with the iPhone X reaching only 17 percent in 30 minutes. Apple iPhone X which costs Rs 89,000 in India could fill half the battery capacity in 30 minutes. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were also close to this level. It is touted to charge a 2500mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in 15 minutes flat. OnePlus may have been derided for cloning the iPhone's design, but it definitely doesn't imitate the handset series when it comes to charging. Let us know as the discussion isn't over yet.
