To drive internet adoption, Google launches 'Go' for low-priced smartphones

Google Assistant will be available for the new RelianceJioPhone, and details on whether existing JioPhone users will receive the feature aren't available as of now. This version is said to offer voice-based user interface along with a rich set of data services for first time internet users on the JioPhone.
Google announced a new version of its Android operating system called AndroidGo, tailored for low-end phones. Google is customizing the Assistant experience to fit the 2.4-inch QVGA screen, but when it comes to usability the AI should work the same way it does on Android and iOS devices. The most important is Android Go, a lightweight edition of Android made for entry-level devices that have little storage and less than 1GB of RAM.
Google has announced a new feature on it's Google Tez App. Google at its Google For India event announced Bill payments will come to Google Tez app in India Soon. Also, Sengupta revealed during the period of October-November, Google Tez accounted for 70% of transactions on BHIM UPI. "The Assistant can help make phone calls, text, play music and videos, navigate and search the internet, and access other apps and services", the company said.
It said it is launching a special version of the Google Assistant-the Google Assistant for the JioPhone, built for India in both English and Hindi.
Google Assistant is making its way to Reliance's JioPhone.
However, it will also answer questions that do not have any answers on the Internet, such as "How old are you".
The appetite for Internet consumption in India will increase steadily over the next 3 years as more and more users log onto the World Wide Web, and Rajan Anandan VP, South East Asia and India at Google, says they will need an Internet that is much different from what it is today.
Sengupta said bill payments are a key use case, and that the company will keep rolling out improvements on this front every few weeks.
As features of Google Go App, users to customise it as according to their preferences.
On the two-wheeler mode in Maps, Sengupta said the feature will be available in India starting today, with more countries in the coming months.
