Manchester City will return with a big offer for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez in January, as they attempt to finally clinch the deal that Pep Guardiola was desperate for in the summer.

The World Cup victor has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal to throw up the possibility of Ozil leaving the north London club on a free transfer next summer.

The expectation is that City will still have to pay over £50m to get Sanchez in January.

In fewer than two months the transfer saga surrounding Alexis Sanchez could finally be over, one way or another.

The Citizens wanted to land Sanchez in the summer transfer window and saw a £60 million deadline day move fall through, with Arsenal failing to land the player's replacement, Thomas Lemar, from Monaco.
