Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticised the Congress saying the party believed that freedom in the country was brought by the Nehru-Gandhi family. "Our Karyakartas should devote themselves to providing all possible assistance and stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow citizens", Modi wrote on Twitter.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday 5 Dec predicted that the cyclone is gradually weakening into a depression and may not hit the Gujarat coast near Surat.
PM Modi's Surat rally, which was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed by a day. Mr. Modi said at a rally in Gujarat's Dhandhuka.
Addressing a public gathering here, the Prime Minister said, "The Congress feels only one family won India's freedom".
"There are some words that the youth of Gujarat do not even know". The Prime Minister also added that the law and order situations had improved tremendously under the BJP government over the last two decades.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi too cancelled his meetings for the day due to bad weather conditions. "Our Government worked for tribal welfare, ensured better education, healthcare". "(BJP demands that the Shri Ramjanmabhoomi case should be heard at the earliest, the Supreme Court should decide on it fast, and a grand Ram Mandir built at the site)". This issue is for the rights of women.
On a lighter note, PM Modi said that the Congress' claim to victory will fizzle out just like the Cyclone Okhai has.
