Police responding to vehicle crash find teen shot and killed in auto

The crash happened on Thomaston Avenue on Monday evening

Police said they believe 27-year-old Dominique Pittman, of Waterbury, shot Santiago three times before crashing the vehicle the two were riding in.

Police have the murder weapon and are working to see if the gun was stolen.

Family members said Pittman has three children with Santiago's sister. "I hope she's looking down at me right now and knows that I really love her, and I wish she was here with us today".

Santiago's adoptive mother Wanda Plaza said Tuesday that she was "destroyed" from the news of her death.

"He was my son in law". He's being held on $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. "I just want the truth", Rivera said.

'He was dating my daughter and he has three kids with my other daughter'.
