Westworld and SWAT Reboot Suspend Filming Due to Wildfires

The second season of the HBO drama was suspended as a 200-acre brush fire broke out near the filming region

The network halted production of its show "Westworld" on Tuesday when wildfires neared its filming location in Los Angeles County, it told CNN in a statement.

Production on popular show "Westworld" has been suspended due to Southern California wildfires. 'Safety of cast and crew come first.

S.W.A.T. shoots its scenes in Santa Clarita Studios in Valencia, and the 1,000-acre Rye Fire has gotten close to the studio's stages.

HBO also commented on the suspension, saying, "Due to nearby wildfires, "Westworld" stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it's safe to do so". By 10:45 a.m., the blaze had charred approximately 200 acres, then grew to 500 acres just an hour later with zero percent containment, fire officials told ABC 7.

"S.W.A.T." films at Santa Clarita Studios in Valenica, California, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles. The freeways have already been closed and there have been traffic jams on the main roads.

Authorities are warning of "extreme fire danger" in the "multi-day event" that could last until Thursday amid strong coastal winds and a dry spell in the region.

"Westworld" Season 2 is still filming for its premiere in spring 2018 on HBO.
